Sunil Lanba Takes Charge As Navy Chief
Admiral Sunil Lanba on Tuesday, took charge as the Chief of Naval Staff in New Delhi as the current Admiral R.K. Dhowan retired after four decades of service.
"I am sure, under his (Sunil Lanba's) leadership, Indian Navy will execute each and every task," Dhowan said.
On 30th May, Lanba was handed over the reins of Western Naval Command Flag Officer Commanding-In-Chief at the ceremonial parade at INS Shikra. Addressing the personnel at the parade, Lanba complemented the personnel of the command who," no withstanding the constrains of the services, have worked with synergy and teamwork in ensuring that ships, submarines and aircraft are maintained in a high state of combat readiness at all times."
Pointing towards International Fleet Review held recently at Visakhapatnam, Lanba said that presence of 50 countries in the review clearly indicates the growing stature of the country in the region.
Sunil Lanba is a qualified specialist in navigation and direction course and will have a full three years term in the office till May 31, 2019.
Admiral Lanba is a recipient of Param Vishist Seva Medal and Ati Vishist Seva Medal for distinguished service of an exceptionally high order.
In a service spanning nearly 38 years, Admiral Sunil Lanba has served in a verity of commands, operational and staff appointments. He has commanded four frontline warships - INS Kakinada, INS Himgiri and destroyers INS Ranvijay and INS Mumbai.
